What are memos?
A memo is a small representative sample of the fabric that is provided to the customer upon request. Memos are provided at a small fee that is refunded to the customer when an order is placed. Remember to select "yes" to knit backing if you would like the memo to include knit backing. Note: Memo samples will be slightly different than the color, texture, and pattern of the dye lot that we have in stock. Therefore, it is highly recommended that the customer request a Cutting for Approval (CFA) before placing an order.

What is a Cutting for Approval (CFA)? Do I need it?
Once you have chosen a pattern based on the memo sample and are ready to place an order, please request a Cutting for Approval (CFA). CFA’s are small cuttings of the fabric that are taken directly from the current dye lot. When you place an order with us and select the option for CFA, the fabric is placed on hold for 10 days. Upon approval of the CFA, we will ship your order.

What is Stain Protection?
Stain protection is a chemical formulation that protects fabrics from soil and moisture. It is specially designed to neither change the texture nor the color of the original fabric.

What is Knit Backing?
Knit backing is bonded to the back of silks & lighter weight fabrics. The knit backing adds body, resiliency and durability to these fabrics, and prevents seam slippage. Knit backing is widely accepted way to reinforce silks and other natural and man made fabrics for upholstery, stretch wall coverings, cornices, duvet covers, quilting, shoe uppers, hand bags & numerous other applications.

What is Paper Backing?
Paper backing – a type of non-woven, papertype backing– provides the necessary stiffness to fabrics to make them more suitable for wallpaper type applications. Stain protection is recommended in combination with paper backing.

What is the standard width on fabrics?
Standard width is 54".

What additional specifications can I make on my fabric purchase?
Further specifications, such as sidemarks, cut sizes, and additional information can be specified upon checkout.

What about International Shipments?
Currently our website does not support shipments outside of the USA and Canada. If you call or e-mail us, we can make arrangements.

When will my order be shipped?
We most often ship within 24 hours after receiving payment, but please allow at least 48 hours. All fabrics are stocked in our warehouse in Atlanta, Georgia.

What carrier do you ship with?
We use the United Parcel Service (UPS). You may select Ground, 2nd Day or Next Day Service.

How are shipping charges calculated?
Your shipping charges are based on your zip code, yardage ordered and shipping service selected.

Can I order less than one yard?
No. We have a minimum order requirement of at least one yard.

Can I hand or machine wash Silk Fabrics?
We do not recommend hand or machine washing as silk fabrics tend to lose their luster. We suggest dry clean only.

What is the difference between Silk Dupioni, Silk Shantung, and Silk Taffeta?
Our Dupioni silks are handwoven and therefore have a ruff texture with many stubs. Silk Shantung is machine-woven and has a finer look with less stubs. Silk Taffeta is machine-woven, very smooth textured fabric with a crisp hand.

What is your return policy?
Please see our Returns section.

If I send you a swatch, can you match it for me?
Because we carry over 500 colors, we are confident that we can help you find what you are looking for. We would be happy to assist you in this regard. Please e-mail custserv@jrbsilks.com or call 1-678-661-1781 to speak with a customer service representative for more information on this service.

Do you give discounts for trade?
Although our fabrics are priced at a fraction of the cost that you would pay at your local retail store, we do offer discount on large quantity orders (generally 100 yards or more). Please inquire.

Do you have a retail outlet?
No. We are a wholesale fabric distribution company.

I am a local customer. Can I pick up my fabric from your warehouse?
Unfortunately we do not have a license to sell retail and our insurance does not allow customer pick-ups from our warehouse facilities.

How long have you been in business?
Our parent company has been in business since 1993. jrbsilks.com has been in operation since 2008.
