Fabrics create the variety in garments around the world

Fabrics create the variety of garments worn of people around the world. Different types of fabrics are made from different types of materials and different weaving patterns. The making, dyeing, printing and embroidering of cloth gives it another new look. Fabrics are any materials that are formed by weaving, knitting, crocheting, knotting or pressing various fibers together. The term fabric is used in textile assembly trades like; tailoring and dressmaking. It is made by a network of natural or artificial fibers.

The array of fabrics varies from place to place by factors like geography, climate, local culture, social customs and the availability of raw materials. Fabrics are made from four main sources, which are; animal - Wool, Silk, plant - Cotton, Flax, Jute, mineral - Asbestose and synthetic - Nylon, Polyester, Acrylic. Fabrics are mainly used for clothing and making containers such as bags and baskets. They are also used in carpeting, upholstered furnishings, window shades, towels, covering for tables, beds, and other flat surfaces, and in art.

Fabrics are also used in industrial and scientific processes such as filtering. Its other additional usage are in flags, backpacks, tents, nets, cleaning devices such as handkerchiefs and rags, transportation devices such as balloons, kites, sails, and parachutes. They are also used as strengthening agents in composite materials such as; fibreglass and industrial geotextiles. The most famous fabrics are cotton, silk, velvet, damask, polyester, acrylic, brocade, chenille, crewel, linen, rayon, sateen fabric, taffeta and many more. The strengths and degrees of durability for each fabric vary in different makes.
